Yesterday a complaint arrived that my account was completely blocked.

Greetings,

Due to violations of our Terms of Service, we are unable to provide further hosting to this account.

Please review our Terms of Service, specifically section 3.10 "Lawful Use of the Network":

I rented s3 space from them for posting pictures. We did not post illegal content, and those users who tried to download pictures from porn were immediately deleted and IP blocked. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
I filed an appeal, as in this space there are a lot of photos and users and mine.๐Ÿ™

3.10 In using the Services, Subscribers must comply with, and refrain from violations of, any right of any other person, entity, law, or contractual duty, including without limitation the laws of the United States and the laws of New York, and including without limitation those laws forbidding: (a) distribution of child pornography, (b) forgery, identity theft, misdirection or interference with electronic communications, (c) invasion of privacy, (d) unlawful sending of commercial electronic messages or other marketing or electronic communications, (e) collection of excessive user data from children, or other improper data collection activities, (f) securities violations, wire fraud, money laundering, or terrorist activities, or (f) false advertising, propagating or profiting from frauds and unfair schemes. Subscribers will also comply with the affirmative requirements of law governing use of the Services, including but not limited to: (i) disclosure requirements, including those regarding notification of security breaches, (ii) records maintenance for regulated industries, and (iii) financial institution safeguards.

Thats a long list of possible violations, I would ask for clarification as to which one of the above rules was broken, and how.

They must know, as they have obviously found a problem, ask them what the problem was.

I have already created three tickets in support, but there is no answer .... The most interesting thing is that the balance is charged for the service

How are the stats on your DO? I mean, how much server resources are being used? I ask because in the hosting industry it is a common practice to find an excuse to kick people who takes too much advantage of the services being provided.

The TOS violation could be being used just to kick you out of the service.

Maybe. I rented s3 space from them, and used as external storage. I have a server in Ukraine

Shortly before the lock, I had a couple of freaks who flooded the hardcore porn. However, every day I monitor who uploads what, remove and block the IP. Maybe something leaked.

You were right, I figured out the pros and cons, and found in the mail such a notification of June 1

Hi there,

I am reaching out to notify you that as of June 10, 2020 at 9:00 PM UTC, we are temporarily disabling the creation of new Spaces buckets in FRA1 and NYC3, and expect this pause to remain until later this year. You will be able to continue normal operations with your existing buckets. If you need to create a new bucket, you can do so in our AMS3 data center.

Our goal is to accommodate our customers who want to grow existing buckets while we work to deploy new performance clusters in both data centers.

Weโ€™re committed to providing ongoing updates to our valued Spaces users at this link. We expect our next update in about a month.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please open a ticket with our support team.

Best Regards,
Team DigitalOcean

and my basket was placed exactly in FRA1, so for them Iโ€™m not a profitable customer, so they got rid of me and decided to ban me so brazenly and without reason. Only content has just been lost (((

So be careful when choosing a provider, otherwise if I rented a server from them, I would have been left without a site.

Already switched to Google Cloud, and everything works great!

I am and have been pretty much manually monitoring all uploads yes every single upload. I too have had a similar email today, somebody had made a complaint but the offending files were already deleted (no files found, therefore, no TOS breached).

So they asked me what my current process was and how I manage my website. I have responded to them, awaiting a response.

The reason why your account was suspended is here:

"Due to violations of our Terms of Service, we are unable to provide further hosting to this account."

The clue is in red. Yes you banned, deleted and IP blocked. But are you sure for 100% there are no other sneaky pictures left on the server? They found something which violated the TOS and henceforth the account was blocked.

Happened to me.

If anyone here using DO for their adult websites that could receive DMCA or abuse complaint. BACK UP YOUR DATA. They will suspend any account without any warning and they will stop replying to you.

Any first tier hosting provider will ban you if you do not take care of DMCA request, specially if they operate in USA.

Problem is alot of people are to lazy to use contact form on chevereto script to file a complaint. Instead they file complaint to either host, lawn enforcement or w.e instead and you get 0 chance to take action yourself and remove content. This is biggest issue of them all! Maybe contact form needs to be more visible, I mean link to it so people can use it to report the content. Right now people are to blind to click arrow/about button and then contact. Instead they report it else where.

that's why I've been keeping all the servers in Ukraine for a long time, without using any third-party services, such as CloudFlare, Azure and other crap.

Thing with content is that some people aren't into using the service, they just want to cause you trouble. Providers like DO won't blink to ban.

One solution is to use RIPE so you can have your own whois on ip and that it hides official provider. That way you can get complaints directly to you and you can then remove content ASAP. But not all dedicated server provider supports or allows RIPE.

I actually wanted to do that, my hosting provider support it.

What I'm doing is that I hide my server ip behind a VPN (the IP vissible will be the VPN IP, not your hostings'). Let the VPN provider get the DMCA, they know how to handle it. Nothing goes through my hosting provider, we all stay happy.

Haven't gotten a single DMCA in years, although I'm new to chev, been doing it this way for quite a long time.

The VPN only adds 5ms of latency since my server and the vpn server are located really close.

I have a big enough server so that I'm not in need to depend on S3, FTP/SFTP.

How is this done, I have never found anything about this. This would be a game changer
