What is the maximum PHP version I can safely use for Chevereto version 4.2.3?

Solution
Hello, thanks for asking about this as recently I was testing it on PHP 8.4 RC.

For the current Chevereto 4.2 version the best experience is with PHP 8.2.

PHP 8.3 should also work, but PHP 8.4 carries deprecations that affect several vendor packages (not only Chevereto) and it seems that will take time to make it fit.

Hi,

Is PHP 8.4 already supported with the current latest version?
No, and there's no need to worry about that. PHP 8.2 works pretty well and for PHP 8.4 there's no imagick support yet. Just yesterday they addressed the related issue and it will take some time to get that propagated. Besides that, there are packages on which Chevereto depends that still don't support PHP 8.4.

I suggest to stay on PHP 8.2 until I notify to which version we can upgrade.

I hope the upcoming version already supports PHP 8.4, especially since 8.5 is coming next month.
Chevereto 4.3 is build and tested for PHP 8.2, which will be supported until December 2026.

To early support new PHP versions is not part of my strategy, I get the code ready anyway but without official support.
