Upgrade from v3 to v4 throws error: Encryption/functions.php:112

Hello, I am trying to upgrade my v3 to v4 and am getting this error thrown which is preventing me from getting anywhere. Thoughts?

This is odd and I've not being able to detect why is handling type object. Are you using encryption?
 
If you aren't using encryption then make sure that
Code: 
CHEVERETO_ENCRYPTION_KEY
is set to empty string. The system is trying to decrypt values because it detected an encryption key.
 
Deleted the line from my env.php file, all good now. I did have an issue creating an admin account, however. Wouldn't take any password I tried. Turned out, it didn't like my USER name which included a period. Consider updating your warning pop-up in the password field to make that more clear. Thanks!
