thumbnail size

Don't know if i have to write it here, please move it if needed.

We saw that some uploads had some different thumbnail formats. Small with rand.
We have tested this out. If you upload a image/Photo greater then 500 kb the thumbnail will be smaller then the 160 x 160 pixel given in settings. There will be a black rand around it.

Is this standard?
Its not a direct problem, but we need our members know why they can't upload bigger.

When you upload an image the system creates 2 additional images: A thumbnail and a medium image (only if needed).

The creation of the medium sized image will depend on how big is the original image. For small images the system won't create that medium sized image and it listings it will try to use the original image only if the image is not that big (file size).

In your case the system is not doing a medium sized image and the list is detecting that the original image is large in file size so it uses the thumbnail to avoid high traffic issues.

Thanks for fast reaction Rodolfo.
I have set the medium size to 1920px width. We found out that the size of the image in kb's make that different in thumbnail size. :)
