Settings to make only thumbs available

I am not sure if anyone asked for it, since we rely on making profit off advertisement and views if we allow everyone to have full access to the direct linking (hot linking) the image, no one would be viewing the site other than when they want to upload.

is it possible to make settings where we can disable/enable direct link to images only make thumbs available where they click to come to view the image on our site.

this will benefit us in long run as we can generate more page views and get the members to interact using the social

You can do that using server side rewriting. Is called hotlink protection and maybe I can write a guide with the how-to.
