(re-added) Contact Page not working

In the past I've removed the contact page from my configuration (I left the files in place).
Now I'm trying to re-add the contact page and have it configured as followed:

Somehow if I try to add the 'correct' filepath (default/contact.html) relative to /content/pages/ the contact page stays empty.
If I copy contact.html + contact.php for /content/pages/default/ to /content/pages/ the page is showing, but when submitting a contact from just empties the form and doesn't send a mail.

My mailconfiguration is working since I'm receiving signup mails and password reset mails.
I'm using SMTP for sending mail.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to get a working contact page?
