Private Site want to send users to custom page not /login

What you want to do is tricky because if you redirect when someone visits /login, how a visitor will be able to login?
 
I'm not a 100% sure how it works. Obviously I don't want a redirect setup on the login page. Because your right no one would be able to get into their account. I was assuming that when you go to the main site instead of sending them to the login page I could send them to another page "/welcome" where I would have a link to the login page. But it sounds like I could get into a redirect loop where they are always being sent the "/welcome" page?
