Local storage is reduced with the use of external storage

Please give us a hint on the following question.

We have connected an external storage, it works perfectly, but we have found that the files for each image are stored on the local server as well. The image that is Referer for the rest of the options (bb codes, etc.).

As a result, when a large number of images are uploaded, the space on the local hard disk increases.

Is there any way to edit the code so that this type of image is also stored on an external storage? If so, how can this be done?

I don't understand this question.
Hello!
We were wrong about the possible causes of the problem and therefore described it incorrectly.
The problem is that when using external storage, the size of the local storage usage grows.
As it turns out, in fact, the physical space on the server does not decrease, but in the site settings (settings - external storage) it shows that the use of local storage is increasing.
Can fix this somehow? will there be problems in the future? for example with a database?

That count reflect the value from the stats table, minus the space used in external storage. If you click on show content it will list the images that are uploaded to local storage, if the list is empty, it means that the stats table is outdated, and you should re-build those (dashboard homepage).

An image will be uploaded ONLY to one target, if local storage is being used it won't be duplicated in another server.
