Images stored in multiple folders?

Is this a current feature in 2.0.16? It would be good if new folders would be automatically created if the main one has too many files in it.
 
it is quite impossible yet without major modfications of chevereto, images paths are not stored into any form of database, so knowing where is which image would required something added to the file name like : folder1-IMAGENAME.jpg so we could know where the image is stored.
