When https is properly configured in your server, Chevereto will detect that and it will use https instead of http. This is the line that detects https: https://github.com/Chevereto/Chevereto-Free/blob/master/lib/G/G.php#L86
Either $_SERVER['HTTPS'] or $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO'] is being missed by your web server.
