How to Optimize Image Upload Speed and Storage in Chevereto?

Chevereto Noob
Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started using Chevereto for my image hosting project, and I’m really impressed with how customizable and powerful it is. However, I have a couple of questions related to performance:

  1. Image Upload Speed: Are there any best practices or server settings that can help improve upload times for larger images?
  2. Storage Optimization: What are the recommended settings or tools to reduce the space used by uploaded images without losing too much quality?
  3. Auto-compression: Is there a built-in feature or plugin for automatic image compression, or do I need to set this up manually?

Any advice or shared experiences from others who’ve optimized their Chevereto installation would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance 😊

Hello there, I may have some tips to share.

Image Upload Speed: Are there any best practices or server settings that can help improve upload times for larger images?
With Chevereto v4.3 we introduced chunked uploads so uploads get fast as it gets, we don't need any fancy server tweaks anymore. The more network and CPU, the better.

If you multiply your storage servers it will drive less stress and users will perceive a faster response.

Storage Optimization: What are the recommended settings or tools to reduce the space used by uploaded images without losing too much quality?
Use modern formats like AVIF or WEBP, these deliver better quality with smaller file size. You can also set a max image size and Chevereto will resize down images automatically.

Auto-compression: Is there a built-in feature or plugin for automatic image compression, or do I need to set this up manually?
There's no auto-compression in Chevereto, feel free to RFC that feature.
