Hi,

is it possible to add a folder system, which creates new thumbs and images folder if the images/thumbs folder have reached their limitations?

So you can edit in your config, how many images are allowed in a folder.
If one folder has reached the limitation a new folder will be created. for example: your images/thumbs folder are full, chevereto create new folder: images1 and thumbs1.
 
I mean, directories have a limitation over how many files can hold, but you are missing the part where that limit is like zillion elements if you are using EXT-4, by the time that happens you will run out of HDD.
