Expand upload plugin support

How about making a wp plugin for the upload plugin? I've talked with some devs in the wp community and some mentioned the pain of wp media admin uploader being slow.

This is from a dev in the community:

"For woocommerce product images, I find then the easiest(and only) way to deal with the images is to eventually host them on your own site and use the WordPress admin media uploader(very slow) to import them. I'm interested if there is a better solution as I currently host roughly 30gb of images for our product catalog."

Oh, well. Close enough then. Thank you and sorry for not checking that corner before posting.
