Hello,

Got this error today and can't find the root of the problem.

Happens on the homepage and login page. Can access /dashboard but can't login at all

The site is upics.ru and the error log says

The thing is that none of the config files deny access.

Updated yesterday to 3.7.0 and after the updated everything worked fine. The error showed up an hour or so ago without any reason.

This error means that the access to the directory on the file system was denied by an Apache configuration.

I'm seeing an /.mp4_20150811_212538.0935fc92.jpg path (yes, filenames can start with a dot).

So the thing that I will do is that I will trim those dots from the beginning of the image filenames. Chevereto has never performed this task so your problem wasn't caused due to v3.7.0 and this is a server misconfiguration issue, like I said, filenames can start with a dot and your server should serve those.

That is strange, cause files with starting dots do exist on the server (htaccess for example) and this wasn't a problem before.
Also I should note that the file from the log example doesn't exist at all (was deleted long ago) and simply returns 403 error if you try to access it directly (as the person from the log tried). I guess, this because of the starting dot - server thinks that this some config file like htaccess or so.

Actually the thing is that the 500 error show up not because of the starting dot files. Error log shows only access errors and no misconfiguration. Would appreciate any additional help.

You sure your permissions are correct? You're going to need to use ls -lR and check your permissions on everything. :/

I will check the permissions later today but until yesterday everything was ok with no can't write errors ((
 
It is all in your server, is a problem related to static file serving, Chevereto doesn't touch that.
 
Restored backup from 6th of March (3.6.5) - working ok. Investigating dot files issue (they are present, when accessed directly return 403 but no 500 errors at all).

Rodolfo, is there any way to download previous versions of Chevereto (starting with 3.6.6 and up to 3.6.9)? I want to update step by step to find out where the problem occurs. The panel allows to download only 3.7.0 the earliest.

There is no point in doing that. Chevereto doesn't serve your static files. The problem is your server configuration.
