🎯Description of the issue

Ran Chevereto Free successfully for two years (didnt upgrade the software). Decided it was time to pay for the license as it was starting to work out for me. Purchased license. Used upgrade button in software dashboard and entered license key. Successuly went through the installer. At the end stage, when it was to go back to my system, a blank white page appears. Now the site is fully down.

▶🚶‍Reproduction steps
  1. Upgrade from free version to paid using the installer that it walks you through
😢Unexpected result

Blank white page.

Obviously I cannot access the software at all and all my other self-hosted apps on the domain are running fine. Chevereto was under a subfolder (domain.com/chevereto).

I enabled php display errors through cPanel and still no errors are shown when loading the page - a white blank screen.

I have checked error logs in cPanel and nothing is showing

I have checked access logs in cPanel and this showed at the time of the upgrade:

After speaking to hosting company, they have advised the same on their side and without any indication of error, they cannot assist with any additional tweaks to the vps.

Completely baffled, your urgent help would be highly appreciated.

I forgot to mention, I changed the debug level in the chevereto settings (through ftp) to $settings['debug_level'] = 3;

Also, I went through the debugging documentation and the 'common conflicting issues and error handling' article but without knowing what the problem is (besides a white page), none of it was useful.

Hi

Thanks for replying. I have already done what you suggested but sadly me nor the host are finding any error messages for us to look into a specific area. It happened during the upgrade of course, so is it safe for me to download the latest version and run the installer again?

Hi

I tried running installer.php but instead of picking up an upgrade, it was not letting me move forward as my database is not empty (it has the problematic version data in it). So I will keep trying to find the error.

When changing php level to below 7.2, this error showed:

----------- Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.', expecting ')' in /home/pxxxxxtsc/public_html/chevereto/app/lib/classes/class.login.php on line 305 -------------

When my PHP is at v7.2.25 i simply get the white page.

Problem solved.

I think it was a bad idea to upgrade from a two year running version. I remembered I had a theme so I deleted the theme and duplicated the new default and the website is loading fine. I will manually go through the theme to apply my themes to the new version.
