Watermark on hotlinked images

Hi!
I would like to know - can we have feature, that allows admin to enable watermark only if the image is hotlinked?

You can see the example on http://joyreactor.com/ - if you hotlink any image on articles, it will display yellow watermark, but the main site does not contain it. The more interesting thing that watermarked and non-watermarked images have the same URL.

To achieve this several things are needed like the creation of a watermark version of the images and a rewrite rule that changes /images/something.jpg for /images/something.w.jpg (rewrite, not redirect). I think that is an interesting feature and I will label it as "Accepted - Not for 3.X" for now.
