Use Chevereto as external image resource for WordPress and other CMS?

Hi.

This looks like amazing software. I'm tempted to try it out for a personal online storage and for my business. A few questions if you don't mind.

First I have decided that I would like to potentially keep my network of WordPress sites small and thereby host my images externally (images being about 80% of the site size). In addition I can upload once and share among my various websites by inserting images into posts and pages using the URL. Do you think this can work? My initial test shows <img src="http://yourcdninfo/imagefile.jpg" /> will embed an image in a wordpress page.

Regarding the above is it possible to limit hotlinking by restricting domains to only my sites (I see something about this in cPanel as well). Or block right click downloads?

Lastly I see mention of different cloud storage software being used with Chevereto - it's confusing because I expect Chevereto is not just an interface but a storage solution itself? For instance I install via Softaculous in my web host and I can start uploading and storing in my hosting account?

Hope the above is clear and makes some sense.

Mike

Yes, it will work for what you described. The system was made for that kind of usage.

Yes, you can limit visitors at the server layer. That can be made by IP, referral, etc. Search for "hotlink protection" and enable access just to your domains. You need to do this for the server(s) where images will be stored for HTTP access.

Cloud storage refers to this, "cloud" in general refers to all available cloud offering services (vary a lot). You can see all the deploy options here: https://chevereto.com/go/deploy

You can use Chevereto without external storage, but is better to use external storage for very large usage as it will allow you to save on costs. Compare the cost of disk vs storage vs transfer, it all depends on how much you want to spend and under which service provider.

Let me know if you need anything else.
