Update from 3.20.20 to 4.05 does not work

I am using https://www.cyon.ch/ as hoster and have the following problem:

- 3.20.20 works fine (just the included update function in Chevereto does not work, uploading and overriding files does work)

- 4.05 works as well without problems

When I follow the instructions for upgrading from 3 to 4 however, I just get an empty white page when I set PHP to 8 or 8.1. Any ideas what that could be about?
