To change the home animation you only need to override the CSS keyframes for the alleged animation and then putting the CSS in Dashboard > Settings > Theme (or via theme hooks if you want to store it as a .css file).

Example: Disable zoom but preserve fade in/out:
CSS:
@-webkit-keyframes slideshow {
    0% {
        opacity: 0
    }
    20% {
        opacity: 1
    }
    100% {
        opacity: 1;
        -webkit-transform: scale(1);
        transform: scale(1)
    }
}

@keyframes slideshow {
    0% {
        opacity: 0
    }
    20% {
        opacity: 1
    }
    100% {
        opacity: 1;
        -webkit-transform: scale(1);
        transform: scale(1)
    }
}

@-webkit-keyframes slideshow--alt {
    100% {
        -webkit-transform: scale(1);
        transform: scale(1)
    }
}
@keyframes slideshow--alt {
    100% {
        -webkit-transform: scale(1);
        transform: scale(1)
    }
}

You can edit the keyframes at any % (you can add/remove steps) and add other effects or transitions.

Hope it helps!
