🎯Description of the issue
I am one of license users since 2018-06-07. I ordered my license with TMDHosting for 3 years. According to the original agreement with TMDHosting, there are no limits at disk usage and network traffic.

But after 1.5 years later, I have just learned that there is a limit at TMDHosting ( 140,000 Inodes for my account) which was not mentioned at the beginning of our agreement. And they are asking extra money to upgrade my hosting packages

At attachment, you can see the support ticket that I created at TMDHosting.

Please help me to solve this unacceptable TMDHost service problem

Hi @mkucuksari, sorry to hear that you are having issues. I've diligently read everything and I think that I can help you.

I have just learned that there is a limit at TMDHosting ( 140,000 Inodes for my account) which was not mentioned at the beginning of our agreement. And they are asking extra money to upgrade my hosting packages
Unfortunately, this falls into a grey area that shared web hosting industry marketing has help to make it very frustrating to understand. There's no such thing as unlimited services in the hosting industry. Everything is capped, is just that the industry market the products to fit the alleged target audience.

Shared hosting (and note, this is the whole industry not just TMDHosting) limits the number of inodes (individual number of files) and they can still market it as "unlimited" storage space because space refers to the space on disk, not the number of files. It is not the same cost to have 100GB distributed in a couple of files vs thousands, companies fix a limit accordingly with the average use case and competitors. To be fair, some companies doesn't limit inodes, but they will limit something else like concurrent queries, number of active peers, etc. There will be always a fine print when using shared servers.

Regarding this particular situation, you can either:
  • Start using external storage (the files will be stored elsewhere)
  • Upgrade to TMDHosting business and get 210K inodes (it should last a couple years in your case)
  • Upgrade to a VPS (a virtual private server where the cap doesn't exists)
I hope this help you to make the best decision for the future of your website.

Cheers,
Rodolfo.

First of all many thanks for your interest and support @Rodolfo

As far as I can understand it is a common marketing strategy 🙁

While I was sharing this problem, I thought you could get in contact with TMDHosting as Chevereto and ask to increase this inode for my account without paying any extra money. According to your sharings, it will not be possible, I guess 🙁

What I will do then :

1- Get a quotation from TMDHosting for 210K inodes. If it will not suit my budget
2- Then I will move my web site to another hosting company.

Is it a problem for you (as license and support) if I decide to move my web site to any other hosting company?

Best Regards,

Mehmet.
