Super high resolution images return "server error"

Hi guys

we seem to be facing this problem, script is running on a dedi box and images with say 8kx8k resolution fail to upload? it returns server error when it gets to 100%.

from the error logs we get -;

 Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 38000 bytes) in /home/XXX/images/app/lib/classes/class.imageresize.php on line 222, referer: http://upload.vstanced.com/

am I missing some kind of configuration or is this a bug?

Evilmoe is right, larger operations will need more machine resources.
