By any chance, did you have problems using NVIDIA drivers? cuz, I used some days ago Debain Jessie 64bit, erased my hdd, did a full update, installed the nvidia drivers, and when I rebooted I had a pulsing dot, nothing more, the system didnt booted.
Im very sorry to be such offtopic, Its just I want to start using Debian and didnt had luck, so I gave up....

OK. first off the scrot you note is actually my i3X distro using i3 window manager;

the configs for that particular setup I would have to research back...

As for NVIDIA drivers I always recommend to install smxi script;

The script will guide you through install NVIDIA graphics drivers...
