Now, chevereto's homepage can only put one picture as background image, i think if I can upload several of pictures as background image, and it can be random displayed. That's would be great.

Calling bing wallpaper is also great!

Forgive my humble English.

I've been working on a method for this thats simple and doesn't require file edits... :/ But I've gotten side tracked.

Just a thought but surely owners want people to remember what their homepage looks like and changing it's look randomly could confuse people into thinking they are at the wrong site especially if their users use different Chevereto sites for different types of uploading.
Admittedly if you have returning members who use your site frequently and have it bookmarked then it isn't a problem.

My personal thoughts are you only normally see the homepage for a matter of seconds before either uploading an image or clicking explore and viewing the images, so I don't understand a need for it unless your going to sit there and wait to see them change.

Not really. It's about the name in my case and the brand ability usage.

Both Tumblr and Flickr (Yahoo companies) use rotating home page images to display users work. I feel this is a good case study in this.

If you're hyper generic image hosting site then sure, simplicity is nice. But when you're like em who's site is to promote artists work... then rotation does not matter as me generating the user churn is not the primary goal, users do that for me.

What about random people who stumble across your site from a search engine who check out several similar sites from the search engine listings but don't take note of the name of your site, then a couple of days later they decide to return to the one that had X image on its homepage and they can't find that X image site.
Image branding is a really important part of everyday life for everyone, change the look or packaging of any popular brand and it can affect sales dramatically, it can be just the same for websites, the bit you cut from the sentence was the key point I was making but you choose not to include that part.

.

Both Tumblr and Flickr are well known names so it doesn't matter so much in those case's but who is going to remember the name of a random image host site that was stumbled upon but forgot to bookmark, and as the majority of chevereto image host owners have the same explore, random, search etc text on the homepage it can, as I said, confuse people into thinking they are at the wrong site especially if their users use different Chevereto sites for different types of uploading.

In the same way that Yahoo or Tumblr constantly change their background images, we could say that the opposite will also works. Some examples? Google, Facebook, etc.

I don't think that random images are something needed, is cool and everything but needed? No. I used to have random images on Chevereto.com and now I switched to just one image that I change from time to time. I found out that it was the best thing to do because people associate that change from time to time with new features or updates. If it changes on every load it is just randomness. At least, that's my case.
