Login loop

Description of the issue
All is working fine.

I go to login via facebook - all is fine.
I log out.
I log in later but the login page loops back on itself.

Empty cache/ reset browser? - yep.
I even tried this to no avail:

Tried on my phone - login first time.
Logout - login again = fine.

Back on the desktop again - leave it for a while - login no problem.
Logout - login - the loop returns.
Try again in a different browser, on a phone, back on the desktop - doesn't work, then it does, then it doesn't etc.

In short - there's no reason for it, and no obvious routine but a lot of times I just get stuck in a login loop.

Same thing happens when trying to log in with either email or facebook.

Any ideas?

Is the issue Facebook login or normal login?

Both.

I can PM you the URL if needed - it's just a dev site for now so not public access as it were, yet.

And weirdly - logged straight in today (after closing the machine down etc).

Every time you see stuff like that tells you that sessions are not working properly. Take attention to any session cache or any kind of server optimization that could be affecting sessions.

So, it turns out the issue was caused because I updated to use php7.

Reverted back to php5.6 and the loop has gone.

I suppose then the question is - if/ when the application will work on php7?

I use PHP 7 always and it works fine so the problem is not PHP, is the PHP 7 settings of your webserver. Unfortunately, I can't assist you with that.
