I hate discus. Many people Ive known or know hate discus. Many people are turned off by Discus. Is using Discus the only way someone can comment on image posts?

Any suggestions of an "html based comment system" to use with Chevereto?
For me it`s a kind of counter-intuitive to have a self-hosted, independent picture host and than have to integrate disqus or facebook again. I decided to host by myself to get rid of the "big players".
