Indexing smb share

Hello,

Before starting an installation and buying licence I would like to know if it is possible to index a large amount of data from a remote share, ie : smb.

We have nearly 2Tb of pictures which represent ~900 000 files into 150 000 folders. We are looking for a product which provide a pretty and beautiful interface for theses pictures.

So :

- Is it possible to mount a smb share and index the data ?
- Is it possible to index this amount of data ?
- What are the specs for this kind of server.
