How to override functions in theme folder?

Your theme functions should be here. You can also add functions overrites here for some internal functions.
For example, you can overrite get_share_links() or get_peafowl_item_list() here.

But, how to override get_share_links()?

function get_share_links($share_element){
...
}

It doesn't work.
 
In that case, create a custom function and use that function not the default one.
