Homepage Settings: recent images on homepage

Dashboard/Settings/Homepage:
(Comma-separated list of target user IDs (integers) to show most recent images on homepage. Leave it empty to display trending images.)

I would like to filter categories for showing the images on Homepage settings, is this possible?
Because, it would be much better to focus one or few categories for showing images instead of one or all users, this would be better solution for "community" related websites.

Offtopic question, is there any chance to convert listed thumbs on the homepage into webp format for better seo and load speed.
