Hi all,

I have Chevereto (latest stable version) installed on cPanel server running under AlmaLinux 9.6.

I am unable to locate / find the way to install ExifTran (bin) on AlmaLinux 9.6.

Anyone have information on how to complete this (even step by step if possible) , as it appears this is not supported by this distro.

Thanks for your time and help.

Hey, I was also running my site on AlmaLinux 8 a few weeks ago and ran into the exact same issue with ExifTran.

I tried compiling fbida from source, but the process would partially fail. Interestingly, the exiftran binary itself would compile successfully. I managed to get a "working" installation by manually copying the compiled file to its proper location.

However, I discovered other problems after that. The biggest one was that AVIF support didn't actually work. It seems the libheif AVIF encoder doesn't function correctly on AlmaLinux, and even compiling it from source didn't solve the issue. You might have to disable AVIF support entirely.

Honestly, my advice is to save yourself the pain and consider switching to Ubuntu sooner rather than later. After I migrated, everything just worked out of the box, with no more headaches.

Thank you for responding and providing this information.

Unfortunately it's not possible to switch distros.

If there's no other solution to this, ill just leave it as it is.

Thanks
