Cloning and shortening /image/XX to /i/XX

If I want a page functionally identical to /image/XX at /i/XX, how would I make it?

I'm lost as to where the related .htaccess is or how I would modify it to do this.

I still want to keep /image/ intact. (That way current URLs won't break and new ones work)

I need to change the css on the /i/ version. My idea was to copy the existing image.php, changing the name, to i.php, upload to directory /i/ and redirect /i/ to i.php.

To achieve something with HTML/CSS changes you will need to do the B option and assign the i.php template file.
