Change color on homepage

Hey, the default color is white - but I have a B&W image on my homepage - making it impossible to read the text. How can I change this to red or blue....something that will stand out?
 
Can you take a picture and make annotations? I can give you the selectors if you help me to identify what you need.

Something that should have been added long ago, is an option to change the text color.

A toggle for every element will mean thousands of options. You can now use custom CSS and get exactly what you need.
