Backblaze question

Hello guys,

Anyone using Backblaze that can help me with a question?

Will deleting the files on Chevereto delete the files on Backblaze as well?
I'm asking this because I have a new site and after testing the upload, I deleted all the files.
But in my Backblaze bucket is still showing 26 files.

I'm running the cron job every minute.
/usr/local/bin/ea-php81 /home/myaccountname/public_html/app/bin/legacy -C cron >/dev/null 2>&1

Any idea how to auto delete the files on Backblaze as well?

Thank you

Did you enabled versioning in your bucket at Backblaze?

By default, this and other providers enable file versioning. When that's enabled the bucket will always keep a version of all the files there, that's why it has an (*) and the others says "hidden".

Hey Rodolfo,

What do you mean with versioning?
Do you mean Lifecycle Settings? I have the option "Keep only the last version of the file" selected.

I did a test and removed all files, it was showing 8 files in total.
After I upload a new file, the number increased to 11 files.
And after I deleted that file through Chevereto. I shows 14 files, this time with the (*).

I also have the option "Object Lock" disabled.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Run the cron via CLI to investigate the situation, check the queues table.
I got this:
[root@host ~]# /usr/local/bin/ea-php81 /home/account/public_html/app/bin/legacy -C cron
  • Job: cleanUnconfirmedUsers
  • Job: checkForUpdates
[!] Skipping updates check
  • Job: removeDeleteLog
  • Job: deleteExpiredImages
  • Job: checkForNews
[!] Skipping news check
* Job: storageDelete
--
[DONE] Cron tasks ran @ 2025-02-18 14:32:33
0.01s

I also did notice that the (*) in front of the file names on backblaze only appear after I delete the images through chevereto, I don't know what does this means. How to disable file versioning? Is in the Lifecycle Settings like I said my message above?

Help 🙂

@Rodolfo, can you help me with this, please? 🙂
I honestly would recommend serveroptima, the cost is roughly the same and the API seems to definitely be more compatible/on par with Back blaze.

I've tried both services, once the versioning and ACL was configured, the serveroptima one seems ideal. Plus I can host my site on a Linux server for $14 a month and still have the ability to use it for everything else.

If the files are not in Chevereto database it means that it sent the delete job, got a OK response and removed the affected rows.

The issue seems to be related to your Backblaze account setup, mind asking them directly. This provider even has a landing page where they literally say "Yes, we save any old version or deleted files!".

Thank you for your feedback, my friend! I might try it!
Btw, do you know if serveroptima allow adult content?
How to setup on chevereto? With S3 compatible option?

Thank you for your response, Rodolfo.
Maybe is related with the backblaze bucket setup, can you check the screenshot attached? This was the options that I selected when I created the bucket.

Should I create a new bucket with private option instead of public?
Or Default Encryption disabled instead of enabled?
