Admin Password Issue

Hi,

I want to but the new version, but I also wanted to try out the old version first. After install and setup, I created an admin password in config.php ($config['admin_password']) and then tried to access the admin panel and when I hit enter, I'm greeted to put the password back in again. If I type an incorrect password, it knows its wrong.

Any help would be greatful before I go ahead and purchase the new version.

Those startup errors doesn't affect 2.X because it doesn't use PDO. My guess is that sessions are not working properly in that install, most likely due to permissions in the session save path.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Would that be the permissions in the file structure or the database? And where would the session save path be?

If you meant PHP, the save path is /tmp and there's a tmp directory in the home dir with permissions of 755.

PHP saves the session data in files, and the permissions on that folder could cause something like this. Try using 777 just to check if that isn't the issue.

Thanks again. Just tried that and I get the same problem with full permissions of 777. Tried all sorts of things. It's puzzling.

Check if cookies are enabled in that browser, maybe it doesn't handle the session cookie at all.

Tried in Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge, Vivaldi and my cell phone, all the same. I really am at a loss. I know enough PHP to get by, and all the php settings in my VPS seem to be OK.

You will need to keep digging, most likely it is a session issue somewhere. Since there are no more reports on this I'm almost sure that is just a local issue of your instalation.
