Convert all images on upload to the webp or avif format.
Reason for request:
WebP is known to be upwards of 30% smaller then jpeg with the exact same SSIM quality index. AVIF can be even smaller.
WebP is supported by all of the main web browsers.
Smaller file sizes mean bandwidth and space savings which equals a happy image host.
AVIF is currently only supported by Firefox, Opera and Chrome.
How does it compare?
It would be interesting to see test results and comparisons on how these formats perform compared to jpeg with imagick on Chevereto. How much more processing power will it take and how much space savings can be obtained in real world usage?
