Upload directly to a category?

Just checking to see if there is a way to upload directly to a category without having to pick one from the list? I am planing a site that will have a lot of categories and would like to be able to have it where the user does not have to scroll through the list to find the correct one to upload to. Would there be a way to include this in the URL or any other way to have a category pre-selected?
