Hey. Is there any system like i can make short urls, such as puush.me do?

Example URL:
http://puu.sh/gxcr

It makes the URL so small, with four letter long url... Any coding i need? I asked my hosting provider to make the rewrite enabled, but he said he did some research, and it can cause server problems.
 
Well, first of all, you should buy the script, second, it is possible, but not without the mod-rewrite.

I made an htaccess redirect that will pretty much do what you want with 6-7 chars.
 
Cool, well thats why i posted the thread here... I'm going to buy it soon as i get money, just want to know what is should do first
