Stop automatic approval of new members and add the option for Admins / Content Moderators to manually approve new members.

At the moment new registrations are automatically approved by members going to their email and clicking the verification link. It would be better if there was an option to Manually approve new registrations to allow Chevereto admins monetise their websites.

To monetise Chevereto you can modify the account-confirm.php and remove the registration confirmation link and replace it with your Membership information and Paypal / Bitcoin / other payment processors information. When the new registrant has paid the fee you want to charge you go to the Dashboard / Users and edit their status from Awaiting confirmation to Valid.

I currently have this workaround implemented on my website and is bringing in a few subscriptions so I think many other Chevereto users would like this adding.

Forums have that feature. User signs up, user confirms there email, user account still has to be manually approved by administrator.

The only problem with that is that it still doesn't stop spammers. Spammers still get past that.

I solved that issue by making users pay for an account on my forum. I charge 0.10 cents USD with Bitcoin.

So they user must pay FIRST then i will create their account. This has completely destroyed spam & spammers on my forum.

I have not had a spam account in half year because none of them are willing to pay 0.10 cents.

But i support your idea. Requiring the administrator to manually approve new users will help stop spam and help you monetize your website.

True, I get a few hundred spam registrants a day but that's ok... Users that don't validate their account (Pay the fee) get automatically deleted after 2 days, but I may edit the cron job to auto delete these non verified accounts in 24 hours.
