Here's my Chevereto story
PicSky first started out as in 2011 with my custom PHP script which was soon replaced by Chevereto, and we still run on Chevereto today. In 2021 we became imagelli.com and this is our story.History
The name PicSky was originally chosen to associate image hosting with something light (feathers, clouds, air, sky). Here's a screenshot of PicSky.net from 2014 running Chevereto 2 with We.pn (formerly ZL.ms) integration for URL shortening which we still use for imagelli.com today:It's amazing to see how our logos through the years have captured website logo design trends of their times:
Being detail obsessed, we've always carried over the same styling of the PicSky name, where the letters i, c and s were connected, and of course the obligatory period at the end.
A decade later, our site still holds true to being a free, simple and reliable image hosting service
In 2021, after 10 years of PicSky, we finally decided to completely change our name and brand which is how imagelli.com was [re]born. We think that the imagelli brand better highlights the community aspect of Chevereto 3+. It is also fun and incorporates modern design values in terms of clarity, brandability and readability:The logo and website use a custom designed font inspired by Google's Product Sans font - it's beautiful, elegant, easy to read and looks amazing in any size. As for the colour choice, we wanted to go with one that's almost the complete opposite of blue to signify our big change. We use a Pantone colour scheme that's easy on the eyes while still delivering a pleasant contrast. Our landing page slideshow images were carefully selected to showcase nature's breathtaking views in a way that doesn't interfere with the content.
We have a max of 10MB file size for guests (+ watermark) and up to 24MB without watermarking for registered users. Our upload policy is flexible in terms of allowed content. All kinds of material are acceptable except promotion of medical treatments/equipment and there's zero tolerance for abuse and illegal content, which is why we have a special Report a File page. Due to spam, visitors from India are currently banned.
We integrated We.pn (Free) to deliver short URLs for uploaded images:
In the above picture you'll also see an orange "Open in Editor" button which opens the uploaded image directly in our integrated editor:
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed our little story! Here's to many more years of imagelli and Chevereto 🥂 clink
