Google Vision on Chevereto to prevent adult images

Kayz

Chevereto Member
Currently working on my website and looking at Google Vision.

I am still setting up, in the mean time can anybody tell me if the Google Cloud integration on Chevereto work with Google Vision preventing / flagging up any adult images that are uploaded.

Has anybody tried this?

Thanks

i haven't, easiest is to force NFSW and look into the content asap and delete ones that you don't accept.

They can link/embed, but you can enable hotlink protection inside cpanel if you use that. Then it will block direct access to image file.

Yes i am aware of the feature in cPanel.

My primary concern is surrounding NSFW, people uploading illegal content even if it privatized in an account by a member or guest i still do not want it hosted, period. So that's lead me onto banning all types of Adult material in keeping things simple.

Forcing NFSW may keep my site pretty on the outside but people will still upload something and get away with it before i could see and remove it.

But i'm thinking of ideas....

well idea was to auto set NFSW, that way you can go through all NFSW images delete ones you don't want and then make rest that you approve as non NSFW.

This way people from outside cannot see if anyone uploads child porn or anything else illegal, which will give you more chance & time to remove it without anyone seeing them.

Nobody does see the images as the explorer is disabled, the reports are coming from outside where the images being embedded hot linked...

I know that this may look as a dumb suggestion... But, if you are so overwhelmed by illegal content, why you don't host your website in a hoster that don't really care about these?

I think you missunderstood there, he doesen't want to have illegal images. But sadly people out there still uploads illegal images, which later he get's complaints about them.

Exactly. Why keep risking to be hosted where they can kick you if you can host offshore just to avoid getting your website down?

Not really overwhelmed, it's coming to notice now.

Yes it that's right. Adult porn is one thing and illegal images is another... traumatizing to be honest.

Understood. I host other websites for people on the 1 box. I only really took out a dedicated box for image hosting.

Yes there are alternatives out there but ethically can't be helping these people by storing it all offshore.

I live in the UK and to be honest I'm looking to going clean and stop the posting of adult images also. This may be trickier too I think.

Secondly i don't know any offshore hosts that allows illegal images

Yes there are places like Panama etc but that's if you have intent in hiding illegal activity which I'm not about.

Send me a pm about panama, so i can know about it myself.

Some tips, if you setup up cloudflare properly they will hide your server IP and they redirect all complaints to you.

Well it depends who does the complaints, if it's a orginisation contacting cloudflare, then cloudflare will give actuall host details instead. So it won't really help much. If it's a plain person complaining then they will forward it to owner of site.

In last 3 years of running my site, only once I got a complaint from my host. I think this is down to cloudflare protecting my original server IP.

if it's law originisation contacting then cloudflare is guilty by law to expose the actuall hosts details. If they refuse then the originisation can file a lawsuite against cloudflare for protecting illegal content.

The key here is time.

CloudFlare takes a lot to review the abuse issues and at most, it will only disclose the server POC (not the IP). From there, the affected party has to send the complain to the hosting company (which also takes time).

That time is the window that you have to moderate the content ✌

well last time i spoke to CloudFlare they told me diffirent, they said it depends who is reporting the content. If it's a normal resident person complaining then cloudflare will issue the complaint to the site owner for the site owner to take action. But if it's the local police or a protecting child abuse orgenistation that fights against child abuse that mostlikley is owned by goverement contacts cloudflare then they will give out ip and more detailed info to reporter.

Sure, it "helps" but is not the solution that it seems that you are looking for. After reading both threads, it is somehow clear to me that you guys want some sort of magic auto moderate system.

Want a public service? You have to moderate it. The system has manager role so get real people doing that job. You think that YouTube does it with IA? Nope. Manual moderation, IP block bans, and a long list of "musts" that seems that most just ignore.

The only problem here is that images upload via Chevereto are accessible right away after uploading, so why you don't start with the usual checklist?

- Ban the domains embedding these (this is the most important thing, images on its own won't harm anyone)
- Don't allow hotlink at all
- Issue IP range bans
- Block entire countries
- Etc

Seriously, start trying and don't expect someone to tell you how to do it because this is relative to your content, to how you want to use your website, to where you host, etc. In both threads you can find lots of suggestions and every single time is not enough... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, realize that you are a service provider, you aren't responsible for the content. You have to collaborate with the authorities and if that is too much hassle to your actual hosting provider, then get another hosting, one which work better with you and understand your business.
