Introduce Fediverse integration in Chevereto to enable seamless media sharing across decentralized networks.

Where did you see this?
I've noticed a gap in the Fediverse for feature-rich, self-hosted media-sharing solutions, and I believe Chevereto is uniquely positioned to fill this need.

Community interest
I've observed growing interest in federated social networks, and I wanted to open this discussion to gauge if Fediverse integration is something that aligns with our community's needs and priorities.

I maintain a few fediverse servers to help run the community. In the past, I've also run a Chevereto server.

Chevereto has a lot of nice features that have been polished over time, and for the most part I'm happy with it. However, it can't reach the timelines of the big social media walled gardens, so it's been used more for local meetups and portfolios.

The Pixelfed server, a pseudo-Instagram, has done a good job of attracting users from across the fediverse to form meetups. It also offers portfolio features, which is nice.

However, Pixelfed is difficult to maintain for admins who are only familiar with Docker's runtime calls. Depending on the maintainer's mood, feature development pauses, or features that should have been refined as galleries become unmaintained and disappear again. Maintainers have too many projects they're working on, following trends.

This is likely to continue until Mastodon delivers Groups features. Mastodon has been holding off on releasing Groups for several years to grow with the community.

It would be nice to see Chevereto consider whether to just provide publish/edit/delete synchronization to the timeline like Wordpress, or to actively attempt to participate in the fediverse culture by developing a following feature.

nostr needs image hosting since it's decentralized and users need someone or somewhere to store their media.
i use mine for nostr. its perfect

I'm actively in the process of setting up peertube and mastodon; and would love to be able to integrate chevereto as well..
The entire purpose of getting chevereto was to provide an easy lens into various art we make; and so it would be a well received addition by me at least
