Hi

In the last days i notice facebook wont display the animations of redirect to my gif website.

I did some debug and im not sure if its chevereto or facebook fault. I added AAAA record to the domain just in case.

Debug:

Works: https://goo.gl/54tAyA

Wont work: https://goo.gl/XaNppj

(no virus in this links, they are facebook debug pages)

My question is, since there is no preview on images, i lost traffic. How can i re enable the preview?

Works for me. Remember that Facebook does that parsing, sometimes it just don't work but later you click on "scrape again" and works so it could be a bad response form your server? Maybe a downtime?

It is really odd, very hard to debug.

Seems like its facebook sided problem, after 1 week of intermitent problem i reported to facebook and got it fixed, no response just started working.

thanks for your time. ill let you know if it happens again

I managed to reproduce in another way, using your own demo.

Steps to reproduce:
1- Upload a new GIF (under 8mb size)
2- share the link on facebook
3- notice how the preview is not loaded
4- delete post and share the same link
5- notice the preview is now loaded!

I used this GIF but you can use any <8mb https://demo.chevereto.com/i/OqH

hope this helps to isolate the problem... Im still between facebook and chevereto. Right now, when i add a new gif i have to open dev tools and scrape it 3 times in order for it to load properly into facebook. Didnt test other social media, Going to test twitter soon and report back!

Kind regards, Linux

This has nothing to do with Chevereto but how Facebook and your server interacts. Chevereto takes an image and uploads it, then it prints all the data that Facebook require to display a playable media content.

If Facebook isn't able to access your image then check your access log to determine what's going on in your server because Chevereto doesn't serve your images, so you shouldn't blame Chevereto for this. You shouldn't even link or think that Chevereto is related to this issue.

As for the demo, this is what's going on:

As you may notice, some requests made by Facebook bot got a 206 response code instead of 200 which is what you always want. That could explain why this is failing, but again... Chevereto doesn't serve your images so check your server for cache or anything like that.

Cheers,
Rodolfo.
