Last week china users started to host porn images, i told to my host if they create problem on the host and they said no, only pedophily isn't allowerd.

So i didn't delete the images and i didn't ban nobody.

In 1 week, and i repeat 1 week, i passed from 25.000 hits in one day, to 385.000 hits in ONE DAY.

The bandwith is passed from 1 Gb to 65 Gb in ONE DAY. (Cloudflare saved me)

Now i know that the porn is a lot of views, i mean there are hundred or maybe thousand of images porn hosted, but the differece is amazing.

Checking the blog of pixhost.ch i found that screen:

As you can see they have the same issue, infacct 99% of users are from china, i'm sure it's all from porn.

Now the discussion:

Is that good or not? They are bot or not? They are good user or not?
 
A open communication to our users is very important for us and we want give you a official statement what happend in the past days and why we run into some speed problems and what is the state of the art right now. We used cloudflare in front of our service to deliver faster and bring the stuff nearer to you the user. Than everything start with you guys and girls arround the world you use our service so hard (and yes we like it) that we produce daily over 90TB in cloudflare’s CDN ;) Cloudflare was not really amused and make us a offer to pay about 5000 Dollars per month to keep the service or leave. We decide to leave and build our own cdn service from the scratch. During this time we had a lot of work to redesign our service and bring back the speed to your boards, websites etc…

That is honestly, not good at all.

Can you make money off that at all? Such as adsense or a porn-acceptable advertising company?

If not, then I'd honestly make a policy and block all porn on the site. Then just simply ban the IP's that are uploading it.
 
Well, first of all get some Porn advertise on your site. Like PirateBay have, they don't give a shit whats hosted. And if it's porn hosted, then ever better. They pay you pretty good aswell! :D

I contacted Adsense to tell if there are problem. If yes i will remove the banner. I will readd only when we will implement the function "adult yes/no" so if the image is in the adult section the adsense banner aren't show.

Do you know how much are 65 gb in one day? If cloudflare close my account i can't handle them. So maybe i will ban their ips.

I was speaking with another member that had my same problem and now every month he uses like 300 TB of bandwitdh also a dedicate can't handle it.

I can wait only that chevereto will implement multiserver so i can balance the traffic.
 
I got the same issue on the demo. Chinese people post in porn sites, then a china bot spam copy the content and start to duplicate the post all over China... The result was that the demo can't hanlde that on webfaction (on that time the demo was just moved from a friend hosting). So what I do was set CloudFlare and block the uploader IP. Then the uploader and the spambots gets banned.

The problem is that they are real users, infact analyzer showed me that there was an increment of unique visitors by 200%, but consumer 70 Gb of bandwith at day is very hight for me.

More then 5.000.000 of request in one days and like 800 Gb used. I think that cloudflare will kick my ass out of his network.
 
Is it possible block the hotlinking only on the china? And only the real image and not the thumbnail.
 
How odd. Generally I allow adult content on my host, only if it is flagged NSFW. If it's not flagged, it's removed or flagged for you. I think I should modify my terms in case of abuse. I had my host delisted from Google for the longest time. But, it is finally listed as I lifted the robots.txt restriction. It's only a matter of time before spammers find us again. In the early history I did find one and I banned them immediately. My host is for a niche. Not for companies to profit.
