Topic: Stop viagra images bot

hey all,

i have a serious problem, I got some sort of spam bot which is uploading 1000's of spam images a day. I'm getting many emails from my IP provider telling me to sort it out. Already been thrown on a spam list a good couple of times (spamhaus etc).

Even know I'm not sending emails, my website is just being used to host spam!!!

Is there a way I can stop this?? Every image is uploaded by a different IP (botnet i guess).. Its becoming a serious problem..

Atleast maybe add a captcha or something for now? Currently I've had to take the website down sad

I would agree with you on a captcha. I would suggest using reCaptcha.

I think this would need a lot of edits code in a few places.
So before i start,  I would like to know if you have made any modifications to your version of chevereto.

Ok got it done, needed less modification then I thought,but still edited quite a few files. so i repacked the latest chevereto (1.9) with the modifications.

I also made it a configurable with 3 options. on/off, the theme. and the language. For the other options you have to read the their doc's because the requirer a lot of work.

I can try, I've looked at it before (it's a very common request) and it didn't look easy.
I'll post back if I have or haven't got it.

Ok basically it is possible, but it would need rewrite (or better said more modulation, to prevent duplication of code) of most of engine.php. This is quite a bit of work.

A lot of site would love to have it, however none have posted here, so I can not be sure that more then one person will use it.
With only one user it is just hard to justify the time needed for this.

Anyway, I hope you understand and if there's anything else I will of course look at it.

This happend with my msnlive email account. I don't know how the heck these guys do it but, it's making a mess out of everything. Is there not something that can be done with these hackers?
