Anyway, back in business this topic is to give you a litte update on what kind of thins is going on with 2.1 which is going to be more than a filemanager thing and it will bring a lot of changes and mostly important, a pretty cool chain of new versions because 2.1 will be the first attempt to bring dB to Chevereto.

Although the filemanager can be fancy thing it's functions are pretty easy to program, but thing goes complicated when dB is present, you can understand that every change on the files must be also a change on the dB and since dB wasn't present I have to write the dB class (don't worry is based on PDO) in a quick resume I have take this opportunity to put dB to the whole script not just the file manager.

Since there will be the manage function, a lot of classes have been written and some are still under development. Classes to fetch a list of files, to manage files, to interact with the db... In plain English, 2.1 has touch the core of the script and it will bring a complete set of new options like extend the manage functions to the api, or use the login action to set up a private image hosting.

I'm trying to do my best in this release, a lot of minor fixes are also in the list of new things and it will be a lot of more. 2.1 has been like improve Chevereto by x2 and the subsequent releases will be also great, the file manager will be constantly improved and more functions will appear.

2011 was a great year for Chevereto, the script have jump on the big scene and I'm pretty happy with the results of this year because it was exceptional and I'm happy to see how my work have bring so many attention. Thanks to the very close clients that help to reach this, I'm doing my best to make Chevereto better and better everyday.

This is because is not possible to keep the upgrades and the casual questions on this version, mostly because Chevereto 2.0 is in another league (even in another sport) and it's just not possible to keep it in that way. Is sad because NB was around since Feb 2009 and now on Oct 2011 is officially ended... But hey, NB is in the past since a year or maybe more (last release was on Oct 1st 2010).

This doesn't mean that NB is no longer downlodeable, and this also doesn't mean that all the NB topics will disappear or the NB forum will be closed. It means that NB is no longer developer by me.

A new Free Chevereto alternative is on sight but is still not confirmed. Anyway this free alternative is likely to share the same "Chevereto core" than the paid version.

Maybe... Let's wait for 3.0

There is also a small fix on the Hungarian language and the viewer link is now part of the image object that we handle in the javascript (no more weird javascript replacements).

The new release is already done and it will be released pretty soon.
Perhaps tomorrow night if no new bugs appears.

What does this mean? That the user setting wasn't being taking into account and I just assume always generate short URLs if the global config says so... That is actually a desired behavior if you store that generated URL but Chevereto doesn't store anything (yet).  Most URL shortener services are ok with this, they are made for this kind of punishment but others aren't... So this issue affects those who use yourls and bitly.

Besides of fixing this in a epic fashionable way, the new feature of showing short URL codes is ready in this release and I did want to tell you this because I want to make clear that I'm always finding bugs and improving the code.

As side upgrades there are a little tweak on the thumb generation that will allow to make better looking thumbs and I'm also making a little fix on the upload button CSS.

As usual, all of the above is already done... Expect 2.0.14 this weekend.

Actually making a file-manager is pretty easy, you only need to read directories and manipulate files. There is a lot of file-manager scripts out there (and they are all compatible with Chevereto, even with all PHP scripts). But there is something different that I want to make in Chevereto that includes the API... I want to make "pluggable" the file manager functions for the budled API, this means that you will got file-manager from web and in your app.

As I said before, this is a pretty long ride... Don't forget that I'm making something that suits for everyone and it must work for anyone, but most important than that is the fact that I'm try to do just premium stuff, not buggy things. That is why you see so many Chevereto releases, always a lot of bugs are corrected, the script is even better.

The file-manager is on the design stage (almost ready) and once I finish that I will start to make the PHP functions and the Ajaxed work... Yes, the filemanager will be 100% in ajax, custom made by me... It's beautiful, I will like to share the screens with you but there is too many copycats around.

UPDATE 2011-12-12
Perhaps you are asking what is the current status of this, so I give you this quick resume:
1. The current development is in half state, meaning that the Filemanager probably won't be launched this year.
2. I have added more features to the UI, currently I'm dealing with the keyboard shortcuts function.
3. There is a ton of cool JS functions that has been developed for this, like automatic resize calculator and contextmenu options.

Hope you can understand that I'm polishing this to the very bone and that it will take more time to release it.

I made Chevereto without thinking on this scenarios, like where you got a server with 1MB limit of memory usage or when Apache is shutting down the script execution because I don't use that kind of hosting providers, therefore I never saw that coming... You should know that the script is the cheapest cost in a site development... In fact, Chevereto cost only 2 months on a decent shared host.

In 2.0.13 the error_reporting switch will be improved and the script will aims to actually use this feature. In this point of development, the error_reporting switch will touch the JS meaning that when something happens you can get the JS console log and the PHP error responses which will help to trace the error.

Second thing, this new error tracing improvements also means that the documentation will be updated. Ways to debug and find error/solutions will be added.

Well, is getting late... I hope to finish this release in this week.

I think that you can do the math and see that Chevereto is doing pretty well, but it could be more huge and it will be.

Next release (2.1) will feature an ajax file-manager and a new private mode so you can password protect your installation , When I finish with that, I will move the whole forum structure (and therefore the sales structure) to Invision Power Board, mostly because I want that you have IPB.

As a side project, I'm thinking on making a Chevereto for files... Well, I'm not just thinking it, it will be done. And it will be free on their first releases (just like Chevereto).

New thumb + URL code generation
If you notice Chevereto generates this codes always pointing to the full image URL. There will be a new option for this, you will be able use image URL or the viewer on the functions show_thumb_html() and show_thumb_bbcode()

If the argument in the above functions is TRUE (default) the thumb + URL will be point to the full image URL, otherwise will point to the viewer. Since Chevereto means easy, you won't need to touch the JS file. If you have the BBCodes on viewer and HTML codes on full image URL the scrip will notice the difference and the multicodes will be generating respecting your view.php settings.

2 New languages and fixed Danish
Ukrainian and Czech will be added. Also, there is a major fix on Danish language.

Little tweaks on the peafowl and in the .htacces file
